What is Land Mobile Radio (LMR)?
“LMR systems are terrestrially-based, wireless, narrowband communications systems commonly used by federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial emergency responders, public works companies, and the military in non-tactical environments, to support voice and low-speed data communications. These systems are designed to meet public safety’s unique mission critical requirements and support time-sensitive, lifesaving tasks, including rapid voice call-setup, group calling capabilities, high-quality audio, and priority access to the end-user. Because LMR systems support lifesaving operations, they are designed to achieve high levels of reliability, redundancy, coverage, and capacity, and can operate in harsh natural and man-made environments.”

North Sight Communications, Inc. (NSC) is a locally owned wireless telecommunications company who has been specialized in the Land Mobile Radio (LMR) industry since 1982. NSC has established its position as the most reliable LMR Service Provider in Puerto Rico by using the most advanced two-way radio technologies available in the market for business and government sectors. NSC has vast knowledge and experience building, operating and maintaining mission critical LMR technologies such as analog conventional, EFJ/Kenwood LTR & LTR-Net Trunked Systems, Harris EDACS, Motorola Smart-Zone/Net, Motorola iDEN, DMR and P-25.
Since 2014, NSC has been operating an APCO Project 25 Trunked Simulcast Network from Tait Communications that currently provides interoperable LMR communications to several municipalities, government agencies and critical infrastructure customers in Puerto Rico. The network’s redundancy, reliability and resiliency were put to the test in 2017 when Puerto Rico was hit back-to-back by two devastating hurricanes. Customer testimonials certify that the network survived both hurricanes, even though there was an island-wide collapse of cellular, internet, landlines and power.
